The definition for Adulterate is: “To render (something) poorer in quality by adding another substance, typically an inferior one.” We adulterate our marriage by bringing something(or someone) else within the boundaries that are exclusive to that relationship. Scripturally, the image of God is given to us as: a marriage between a man and a woman and the emotional and sexual intimacy within that relationship is an exclusive right reserved only for that couple. To give emotional or sexual energy to someone other than your spouse adulterates your marriage relationship. Hence the term adultery or emotional affairs. But can we adulterate our marriage by something other than technically “committing adultery”? I think so. Let’s talk about sensuality and pleasure. Pleasure is a powerful way to nourish ourselves and connect to our feminine energy. Pleasure is not only about sexual pleasure. We can tap into it throughout the day. And we should understand that our pleasure is not outside of us. Pleasure is sourced from within our own bodies and we have access to it at any time. Yes, I actually heard that phrase recently!  I find it simultaneously hilarious and ridiculous. It never ceases to amaze me that there seems to be this weird under current that won’t die, that seems hell-bent on keeping women down. Today we will discuss coming back to a more natural state. Awakening our feminine energy is not about adding on layers or becoming something “outside” of ourselves. It is an unraveling. The first practice I want to talk about is called embodiment. It is about fully inhabiting and coming home to your body.  Think of it as moving your awareness into your body while in a slightly meditative state. Meditation is a quintessential masculine practice. It is sitting in stillness and silence while being observant and aware. I love meditation and I think all men and women should engage in some meditative practice regularly.
